Whitney’s “Unwind Yourself,”was sampled by DJ Kool on 1996’s “Let Me Clear My Throat,” and in 2011 by Mac Miller on “Party on Fifth Ave.” In 1988, Public Enemy sampled Whitney for their classic, “Bring the Noise.”
The funky, soulful singer, nicknamed ‘Soul Sister No. 1’ by James Brown died from pneumonia on Saturday, Dec. 22. Fans were notified of her death via Whitney’s official Facebook page.
