The Idea of Beautiful by Rapsody

Opening with a poem from the Dungeon Family’s longtime poet Big Rube, North Carolina rapper Rapsody announces herself with a beautifully lush and warm debut. With production that owes much to the aforementioned D.F., late 90s A Tribe Called Quest and fellow N.C. natives Little Brother, Rapsody’s distinct southern drawl is as at home on dramatic cuts like “Non-Fiction” with Ab-Soul and laid-back grooves like the Love Jones-referencing “Precious Wings.” A wide-ranging project that presents an artist with a fully-realized sense of who she is.
