The other celebrated lyricist that formed half of Black Star in the late 1990s, is also a proud product of Brooklyn. Kweli grew up in Park Slope, and maintains his close connections to the borough. He appeared in Nelson George’s documentary “Brooklyn Boheme” in 2012, discussing gentrification in Fort Greene.
