For years, Solange rocked a weave that she playfully dubbed her “dragon.” But in 2009, Solange grew tired of her dragon mane and decided to cut all her hair off as a show of freedom for herself and all black women with hair issues. “I just wanted to be free of the bondage that black women sometimes put on themselves with their hair,” tweeted Solange about her short hair.
