The March 2013 issue of O magazine takes us into the Santa Barbara mansion of media mogul Oprah Winfrey. The story features the exquisite transformation of a former muesum that has been transitioned into a livable space on the 42 acre estate. Winfrey explains, “The gilded mirrors, marble urns, the lavish carpets and sherbet palette – it was all very grand.” In the feature titled “Making Room For Me,” she continues, “But it wasn’t very true to myself.”
Quoting one of her mentors, she also shares with readers, “Maya Angelou once told me you can become either an old female or a wise woman. All I can tell you is that I’m evolving, my taste is, too, and someday soon this room will represent the person I’ve become.”
Rose Tarlow, a designer working with Oprah on her project, said in a press release: “One of the redo’s key goals is a living room that can actually be lived in.”
