While riding high on the success of his debut album, Snoop was charged with murder in the shooting death of Philip Woldemariam. He would eventually beat the charges, but the incident coincided with the release of his hit single and his performance at the 1994 MTV Video Music Awards became a defining moment of the 1990s.
