Verizon’s ‘How Sweet the Sound’ finale airs tonight, Easter Sunday

Tune in tonight, Easter Sunday, to TVOne at 10 p.m. and witness Verizon’s How Sweet the Sound 2012 finale special with performances by Chicago-based choir Dexter Walker & Zion Movement Choir and regional winning chairs, CeCe Winans, Hezekiah Walker, Mary Mary’s Erica Campbell and Fred Hammond. The 90-member winning choir received a recording contract, a $25,000 cash prize, smartphones and gift cards. The finale is hosted by Destiny’s Child singer Michelle Williams.

This special airs one day before the launch of this year’s singing competition. On Monday, April 1, 2013, church, community and college choirs interested in taking part in the 2013 competition can register. This year’s winner will receive a recording contract, up to $50,000 in cash prizes and the title “Best Gospel Choir in America.” –yvette caslin
