Rap battles and beefs are one of the cornerstones of hip hop. Fans are finding out that the same is also true with the journalists and bloggers who cover the rap game. The competition, cliques and verbal cat fights are played out before a ravenous audience on VH1’s latest reality show, “The Gossip Game,” starring a group of female reporters, bloggers and radio personalities who try to beat each other to the biggest stories in urban music and beyond.
Created by Mona Scott-Young who also brought the “Love and Hip Hop” franchise to life and airing Mondays at 9p.m., the earliest provocative story line centers around the heated rivalry between K Foxx, a weekday morning show personality on the nationally-known “The Cipha Sounds & Rosenberg Show” on Hot 97, and Angela Yee, one of the stars of the “The Breakfast Club” on Power 105. As their battle played out on the screen, fans of the show also took sides on Twitter and discussed a broader range of hot topics that were broached on the premiere episode.
