With Jay-Z serving as musical director for the soundtrack and score of Baz Luhrmann’s highly-anticipated film adaptation of The Great Gatsby, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that Beyoncé is making an appearance on the high-profile project. But the superstar singer’s contribution is fairly unique, and should get music fans’ collective pulses racing.
Beyoncé is collaborating with enigmatic OutKast star André 3000 on a cover of Amy Winehouse‘s classic 2007 hit “Back to Black.”
Details are few, but it is being reported by several sources that the two, who previously worked together on Beyoncé’s single “Party,” are set to release the track on the film soundtrack.
Winehouse’s all-too-short catalog and tragic demise have been well-documented, and having two stars of this magnitude reworking one of her most revered songs is a fitting tribute for a remarkable talent that died young, leaving much of her career potential unfulfilled.
