Disowned and disgraced Rutgers head basketball coach Mike Rice spoke in front of his home after getting fired today, trying to articulate how sorry he was for physically abusing his players over the course of three years, including throwing basketballs at players’ heads, kicking some players, grabbing others, pushing and pulling a few more and shouting obscene and homophobic language at all his players a continual basis.
Many took to Twitter to air very strong feelings about Rice’s tenure, including NBA stars LeBron James and Ray Allen, while New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and a few state senators expressed their outrage at Rice and the fact that he was allowed to keep his job in the first place — before the airing of the ESPN video that put national pressure on Rutger’s leaders to dismiss Rice, which eventually happened.
These are Twitter thoughts about Rice’s egregious behavior as well as what they think about his termination on Weds., April 3.
If my son played for Rutgers or a coach like that he would have some real explaining to do and I’m still gone whoop on him afterwards! C’mon
