The distant cousin of gangsta rap superstar Ice Cube dropped one of the most important debuts in West Coast hip-hop history. Filtering everyday life (deadbeat friends, riding public transit, etc.) through his own offbeat sensibility, Del announced the West’s own “alternative” voice, setting the stage for his Hieroglyphics crew and the Pharcyde.
