bell hooks’ most studied work, Ain’t I a Woman: Black Women and Feminism, focused on the intersectionality of privilege, education and  sex within a white, patriarchal society. hooks is responsible for shedding light on the importance of race within feminism and how that impacted the perception of black women. She uses lower case letters in her name to distinguish herself from her grandmother.
