One Boston Marathon terrorist suspect has been killed by police and the other is on the loose after an exchange of fierce gunfire in the Boston suburb of Watertown, Mass. and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in nearby Cambridge.

One police officer on the campus of MIT was shot and killed after responding to a disturbance and was fired upon, sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. Another officer on the city’s subway system was shot and is in critical condition, the media reports. After reports of a carjacking at a convenience store, local and federal authorities chased the vehicle into a Watertown neighborhood, where multiple gunfire was exchanged between police and the terrorist suspects.

The man with the black hat has reportedly been killed. The male in the white hat turned backwards is still on the loose. He is the one whom officers state dropped the backpack that ignited the first bomb.

Police officers urge all residents to stay inside as the fleeing suspect is considered armed and dangerous. All metro bus and subway operations have been suspended in the greater Boston area. In addition, all businesses in the city of Watertown have been ordered closed and all home owners have been told to stay indoors and not to open them for anyone under any circumstances.

Stay tuned to further developments.
