Young LGBT fans have someone to look up to
Because of the homophobic culture of sports, many young sports fans have been faced with harrowing fear and discrimination as well as a seemingly unbreakable glass ceiling when it comes to their potential career path in sports. But, with the recent high-profile coming out stories of Collins and future WNBA Brittney Griner, those same young fans, who once doubted their place in sports can now have a deeply relatable heroe to look up to and see themselves as they are, LGBT and proud in the world of sports.
