Justin Fashanu
English football is well regarded as one of, if not the most homophobic, sport in the world. But in 1990 footballer Justin Fashanu came out as gay and continued playing until 1994. However, after being criticized for his sexuality and being accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old boy, whom he claimed to have had consensual sex with, Justin committed suicide in 1998, claiming he wouldn’t receive a fair trial because he was gay.
