According to TMZ, the swatting continues. Celebrities in California are still falling victim to these swat pranksters. The home of NBA great Magic Johnson was swatted on Friday, May 3. The call claimed that multiple shots had been fired at Magic’s L.A. home and the shooters were holding hostages.
Now that LAPD has caught on to the “swatting” they are no longer going into a frenzy sending all of their officers, SWAT and helicopters to the home of the celebs. Only a few patrol cars responded to the home of Magic and there were no choppers, no SWAT team, no guns-drawn as they have done previously with these prank calls.
LAPD thinks they hve figured out how to distinguish the prank calls versus a real emergency. Hopefully for the celebs they have.
