Christina Applegate: The actress had a double mastectomy in 2008. After being diagnosed with cancer in only one breast, she underwent two lumpectomies but she took a test that revealed that she had a BRCA1 genetic mutation, which put her at a high risk of a recurrence and also of getting ovarian cancer. The star had the double mastectomy to help prevent future problems before even starting chemotherapy. She is 100 percent cancer-free.
