COLUMBUS, Ohio — Since his retirement as one of the 10 greatest players of all time, former NBA superstar Earvin “Magic” Johnson has accrued more wealth, more fame and more respect in business than he did as the revolutionary point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers that won five championships in eight title game appearances in 10 years during the 1980s.
Johnson, who is worth in access of $600 million, sports a vast business portfolio that includes real estate and private equity funds, a foodservice and facilities-management company, 17 radio stations, the new television network Aspire, a staffing company and interests in a number of other ventures. He is also one of the owners of Los Angeles Dodgers. This made Johnson the perfect candidate to commence the 16th Black Enterprise Entrepreneurs Conference sponsored by Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co.
“I am so excited to kick off the Black Enterprise Entrepreneurs Conference and Expo. This is an amazing conference because it provides a great platform for African-American entrepreneurs to share ideas, network and ultimately grow their businesses,” said Johnson. “I am also proud to once again be associated with Nationwide Insurance, a charter brand partner of my ASPiRE cable network, and more importantly a company dedicated to supporting the African-American community.”
Johnson sat down for a one-one-one fireside chat with former Ohio State basketball star and current TV sports analyst Clark Kellogg and deliver five key ways to turn your fledging business into a successful venture.
