Earlier this week, a massive tornado ripped through and devastated several parts of Oklahoma City, destroying blocks of houses and killing at least 24 people. While science and common sense would say that the weather is to blame for the carnage and destruction, the infamous Westboro Baptist Church is claiming that the real culprit is none other than NBA star Jason Collins, who recently came out as the first openly gay active NBA player.
Fred Phelps, Jr., the son of Westboro Baptist Church minister Fred Phelps, recently took to Twitter and claimed that the massive tornado was the wrath of god sent down from the heavens because the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Kevin Durant publicly showed his support of Collins for coming out as gay.
“OK Thunder’s Durant flips God by praising f*g Collins. God smashes OK. You do the math. #GodH8sF*gs #F*gsDoomNations #FearGod #GodH8sU,” tweeted Phelps, Jr.
Phelps Jr. then went on to praise God’s deadly wrath and claimed that God is terrorist to all sinners, especially the LGBT community and those who support them.
“God’s wonderful wrath in Oklahoma reminds me: #GodCursesUForF*gMarriage #GodIsYourTerrorist #GodWillRepay #GodAvengesHisPeople #GodH8sU,” tweeted Phelps, Jr.
Seriously, these claims are so outrageously ridiculous and ignorant that they’re actually somewhat funny. However, it’s sad that members of the Westboro Baptist Church lack so much respect for human life and loss that they would wish death upon LGBT people and heterosexual people who embrace the LGBT community.
God or any other deity that you believe in aren’t the terrorists here, and neither is anyone who is LGBT or ally. The only hate and terrorism we see is coming straight from the Westboro Baptist Church.
