Erick Sermon and Parrish Smith were still riding a pretty strong wave of creativity when they released their fourth album. Sermon’s production talents had been evident since the late 1980s, but here, his sound is more indicative of where hardcore East Coast hip-hop would be heading in the mid-1990s. The raps are as grimy and distinctly monotone as ever, and the duo’s Hit Squad crew gets the chance to shine–particular up-and-coming New Jersey lyricist Redman.
