During a recent interview on Harvard’s campus, Neeley provided advice to new graduates who are entering the job market.
How does global work impact today’s business climate?
Global work is a representation of today’s context of work. We’re no longer in a world where work and collaboration takes place in a domestic environment. Oftentimes, work is about crossing boundaries and collaborating with people from different countries and cultural experiences to bring products and services to consumers.
When entering the job market, what should new graduates expect?
It boils down to understanding the general climate of the societies they are a part of. These graduates must think about the global environment. If they think globally and seek experiences that are global in nature, I think they will be prepared.
What tactics should graduates use when seeking employment?
Be be bold, be fearless, experiment. Think deeply about people around you. Consider the position of others. Seek experiences that will put you outside of your comfort zone. And always continue learning. It’s a lifelong event. Graduation is just the beginning of your lifelong journey.
