Orlando Shaw believes his love for women is the reason he faces a compromising position as a father. According to reports, Shaw has fathered 22 kids by 14 women and can’t afford to pay thousands in child support.
The 33-year-old Nashville resident recently spoke with local station WTVF after a court hearing for his failure to pay. Shaw told the station, “I was young and ambitious and I love women. You can’t knock no man for loving women.”
But Shaw’s love for women has not put him in a position to find adequate ways to pay for the kids he fathered. Because Shaw has a criminal record, it’s hard for him to find steady employment. In turn, the mothers of his kids have to seek government assistance. The state pays close to $7,000 for Shaw’s kids.
Shaw, who fathered his first child at 15-years-old, will likely have to go to trial for failing to pay child support and could face more jail time. But in Shaw’s case, his incarceration would work against his ability to help his kids financially. He would likely have to work three to four jobs to support all of his kids if he could avoid jail.
Share your thoughts. Should Shaw be incarcerated for failure to pay child support, or should the judge give him more time to find employment?
