On the first day of the George Zimmerman second-degree murder trial in Sanford, Fla., Zimmerman’s lawyers released a tape that Travyon Martin recorded of two homeless men fighting.
The clip, which Zimmerman’s attorneys say come from Martin’s cellphone, shows two men struggling with each other hear a bicycle. The voice on the tape is confirmed to be that of the late teen.
According to radaronline.com, the person who made the recording is not visible in the tape. Prosecutors who are trying to put Zimmerman away for life do not want the tape introduced in the trial.
When Zimmerman’s defense spokesperson Shawn Vincent was asked by NBC if the tape would paint Trayvon Martin in a negative light, Vincent said: “The answer is we hope it doesn’t.”
