Considering he’s only 23, Shay Stevenson plays in the big leagues. The Nyack, NY native was pulled over in his Land Rover by Clarkstown police for a minor traffic violation. Driving on a suspended license, Stevenson was told by cops that his car would be impounded. He lost his cool and tried to zip his duffel bag. It raised suspicion. They found 1,372 fake money orders – 497 fraudulent U.S. Postal Service money orders and 875 CVS MoneyGrams – totaling more than $1 million.
Stevenson was released on $5,000 bail. He faces up to 20 years in prison for felony charges of possession of forged instruments for each fake money order. His court date is set for August 7. 2013.
