No. 15 Thom Bell

In many ways the unsung hero of the legendary Philadelphia International sound, Bell (sometimes in tandem with singer-songwriter Linda Creed) penned some of the label’s most iconic singles. His gift for lush balladry helped define what would become the most popular style of smooth “Philly soul” in the late 60s and into the 1970s.

Notable songs: “Betcha By Golly Wow,” “You Are Everything,” (The Stylistics), “I’ll Be Around,” “Could It Be I’m Falling In Love” (The Spinners) “I Don’t Have the Heart” (James Ingram)
