If you thought Kanye West, 36, has been pretty quiet and discreet leading up to the release of his new album, Yeezus, then you’re right. While the paparazzi has been on his heels, even catching one of his most embarrassing moments with a street sign, Yeezy has been pretty much keeping to himself, even deleting nearly all of his Twitter posts (at the time of this writing, there were only six). The Atlanta-born-Chicago-reared rapper has taken up residence in Paris, channeling his inner Pablo Picasso, Michelangelo and budding Azzedine Alaïa self.
In an interview with W magazine, the new father to preemie-born daughter North West has a revelation. “In Paris, you’re as far as possible from the land of pleasant smiles. You can just trip on inspiration—there are so many people here who dedicate their lives to excellence,” reveals West, who has dreams of creating “operas, stores, films, product packaging, amusement parks, and, possibly, entire cities.”
West goes on to discuss his role on changing baby’s mama Kim Kardashian’s wardrobe. “Nobody can tell my girl what to do. She just needed to be given some platforms of information to work from … one beautiful thing is that as she discovers it, the world discovers it. For her to take that risk in front of the world, it just shows you how much she loves me,” he vaunts.
With 21 Grammy Awards to his credit, more than any other rap artist, the “Can’t Tell Me Nothing Artist” breaks all the conventional rules and makes his own. Even in Paris, West’s hunger for expert opinions has led him to simultaneously consult with several competing designers and architects for the project decorating his Paris loft – breaking all etiquette rules.
