Only in Georgia would someone ask you to prove your gender. Nakia Grimes, 37, was trying to renew her driver’s license when a state worker told her that in order to get a new license, she needed to have a pap smear and submit a letter written by her primary care physician to Vital Records to prove she was a woman because there was an “X” in the box indicating her gender as male.
After the “humiliating” request, Grimes was able to use her son’s birth certificate where she’s legally listed as his mother to prove her gender.
