Lil Wayne apologized to the family of Emmett Till while performing “Karate Chop” before thousands at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.

According to a report by Karen Civil, instead of rapping the controversial lyric, Lil Wayne switched the rap and said, “I apologize to the family of Emmett Till,”

Lil Wayne issued a written apology earlier in the year, but it appeared to be written by a publicist and never came across as sincere to many. Because of the controversial lyric, Mountain Dew dropped Lil Wayne as a spokesperson for their brand.
