More than two dozen kids have become sick after eating free lunch at a school in the eastern India state of Bihar. In addition to those sickened, at least 20 other children died from eating the food that was probably tainted with harmful insecticides. The children are all between the ages of 8 and 11 years old. While it is unclear as to how the chemicals got mixed in with the food, the school immediately stopped serving the meal which contained rice, lentils, soybeans and potatoes as the children that immediately induced vomiting in several students.

Education minister M.M. Pallam Raju also confirmed that the cook has also died from the food poisoning.

Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has a team of people investigating the incident.  All families whose children died were offered monetary compensation for $3,400.
