“Strange Fruit” by Billie Holiday

Written initially as a poem by Abel Meeropol in the 1930s, this mournful ode gained its greatest popularity after it was recorded by legendary jazz vocalist Billie  Holiday. Offering a haunting look at lynchings in the south, it’s lyrics remain regrettably relevant today.
