“Born In the U.S.A.” by Bruce Springsteen

The iconic rocker penned this song as a protest track for Vietnam veterans who were ignored by their country after the war, but it was widely misinterpreted as  patriotic fist-pumper. Nonetheless, Springsteen refused to let his hit be misappropriated by the 1984 Reagan re-election campaign.
