Kelly Rowland was on a private boat that was lost at sea for more than 12 hours this weekend. According to EOnline, the singer rented the boat and she and some friends were due to go whale-watching off the shores of Provincetown, Mass. A TowboatUS Provincetown employee said that things went awry shortly after the weather changed.

“[The boat became] disoriented in the five-to-six-foot waves and fog that had rolled in,” the employee stated. “The US Coast Guard was able to triangulate their position after learning that the group needed help.”

As the Coast Guard was escorting them back to Provincetown, the boat broke down. It was towed the remaining distance–several miles–back to shore.

The employee said the group was “tired and thankful” after the ordeal.

“They just wanted to get off the boat.”

Rowland didn’t seem to be too distraught after the harrowing ordeal. The “X-Factor” judge posted playful photos of the trip on her Instagram account. She revealed that she loves spending her quiet times in the coastal town.

She captioned one photo: “Loving P-Town!!!!!! The happiest place on Earth!”
