16 years later, this album isn’t quite as annoying as it was back when it was released. But, nonetheless, this was the sound of an artist trying on a suit (or a shiny suit) that didn’t quite fit. Released at the height of the Bad Boy Records “flossy” era, Jay’s first bid for crossover success sounded too watered-down for his early fans.
