“Brown-Eyed Girl” by Van Morrison

The Irish singer-songwriter needed a hit single to kick-start his solo career, and he’d written this tune about an interracial relationship. While many historians state that the title was changed from “Brown-Skinned Girl” to avoid trouble from radio stations, Morrison said that it was actually simply written wrong on a tape box and they decided to stick with it.

Notable lyric: “Laughing and a-running, hey, hey/Skipping and a-jumping/In the misty morning fog with/Our, our hearts a-thumping/And you, my brown-eyed girl…”
