Amar’e Stoudemire and Alexis Welch’s wedding
An NBA baller and his longtime love recently shared photos from their lavish wedding. Amar’e Stoudemire and Alexis Welch had 6 bridesmaids and 11 groomsmen during what has been called an “unforgettable dream wedding” in Miami, Florida.
Just five weeks after Alexis gave birth to the cousin’s youngest son Alijah she and the New York Knick wed in front of family and friends. The entire event was captured by ESSENCE magazine.
“It felt like I was a king in the ancient times of Abraham, especially with all of my groomsmen standing by my side. My friends and my family look up to me, and we are all extremely close. When I was standing up there with everyone surrounding me, I knew that I was making the right choice and that everyone supported us,” Amar’e told the mag about his nuptials.
Alexis donned a stunning J. Anton Forever After Miami wedding gown, while Amar’e donned a chic black and white tuxedo. The bride’s ring was an 8.5 carat diamond ring designed by the groom himself.
“I felt comfortable. I felt safe. As soon as I saw him, I wasn’t nervous anymore,” Alexis told the mag about meeting her husband at the altar.
“I was almost in somewhat of a daze, but I was at peace. It was a very gratifying feeling to be standing up there with Alexis,” added Amar’e.
Wedding guests included Carmelo Anthony, Iman Shumpert, JR Smith, Allan Houston (retired) and the Raptors’ Rudy Gay. Professional athletes Victor Cruz, Kurt Thomas and Drew Gooden.
