San Francisco 49ers cornerback Tarell Brown, 28, missed his off-season practices and will face a $2 million fine. Brown worked out at home in Texas and blamed his agent, Brian Overstreet, after learning of the pay cut via Twitter. Read what he had to say:
“I no longer have an agent as of now. No one wants to leave money on the table. If I would have known the clauses in my contract and that’s what agents get paid to do — to orchestrate the contract and let you know what you can and can’t do as far as workouts and OTAs and things of that sort. That’s what he got paid to do, he didn’t do that, so in my opinion he had to be let go.”
He was due to earn $2.925 million in 2013, the final year of his contract. To collect $2 million of that salary, he was obligated to attend off-season workouts with the team.
