Outside of Amanda Bynes, few other former child stars have done as much outrageous work to tarnish their image and sabotage their careers than Justin Bieber. In the past few months alone, the star has publicly peed in a janitor’s mop bucket, dissed Bill Clinton, and literally spit on his fans. Now, the wannabe bad boy is getting some tough criticism from the wife of one of Rock’s iconic bad boys, Sharon Osbourne.
In a recent interview with The Daily Beast, Osbourne took aim at her least favorite celebrity, Kanye West.
“He bores me,” she said. “He’s an average-looking man with an average talent, but he’s a great salesman. He should sell cars because they would f—– fly out the door. He’s his number one fan.”
She saved her harshest critique for Beiber, who she claims is lost and is under the misconception that he’s black.
“I think that he’s lost, I really do. I think he doesn’t realize he’s white and not black, that’s a huge problem. And, at the point he’s at in his career, it’s so dangerous because we’ve seen it all before a million times. Where do you go when you’re a child entertainer and then you want to transition to be a man? Very few make it.”
Granted, Osbourne’s not the first person to claim that Beiber is “acting black.” Several bloggers, artists and media personalities have all claimed the same thing. However, it’s problematic to hear such a statement come from a white celebrity like Osbourne. Her vague statement, as well as the statement of several other celebs who have commented on Bieber, seems to imply that “acting black” equates to being an obnoxious, overly-aggressive and an ignorant thug. Sadly, that way of thinking seems to be a popular mindset about black people and perpetuates the already demeaning and deadly stereotypes that feed into prejudice, discrimination and racial profiling.
