Radio One and TV One founder Cathy Hughes has announced that she will be the official keynote speaker for the 19th Annual African American Business Achievement awards. The Greater Houston Black Chamber established the Pinnacle Awards in 1994 to recognize outstanding African American businesses in the greater Houston area.
The annual award is bestowed upon African American entrepreneurs who have met the many challenges that come with business ownership. The awards also make it criteria for the award recipient to remain a positive force by affecting the communities and industries that they serve making the Pinnacle Awards the most prestigious African American awards gala in Houston.
“Houston is the second most diverse city in our nation. It is a global city and the GHBC is both a local and global business organization committed to providing value to our members and corporate partners. We are so excited to have Cathy Hughes as our keynote speaker,” said Houston Chamber president Eric R. Lyons.
Nominations are still open for the 19th Annual Pinnacle Award, Upstart Award and the Advocate Award. The ceremony will be held Friday, October 11, 2013 at The Power Center at 7 p.m. Last year’s winners include, Dr. Heather Brown, LAMIK Beauty, RPH Consulting Group, The BulsardGroup and TLC Engineering.
