Foxy Brown dismisses rumors of a Lil’ Kim reunion at Summer Jam

Foxy Brown’s recent appearance on MTV’s “RapFix Live” has been making waves across the Web because of her tearful messages to her haters and her comments about Jay-Z’s “Picasso Baby.” But one moment that has stood out among fans is her revelation that Fabolous tried to get her and her rival of more than a decade, Lil’ Kim, to patch things up and perform together at this year’s Hot 97 Summer Jam concert.

While talking with host Sway Calloway about Summer Jam, Foxy dispelled rumors that she was late to the concert and didn’t perform for that reason. Foxy revealed that she was asked by Fab to join his on stage at the show, but when he asked her to perform alongside Kim she declined and backed out of the performance.

“It’s a touchy situation because I have a lot of respect for Fab,” Foxy revealed. “My brother and Fab are like brothers. And we’re all from Brooklyn. So, I don’t want to really go there, but let’s just say that it wasn’t orchestrated properly and when you have something of that magnitude. I understand. I have a brand. I’m an intelligent girl. I understand the epicness of those two huge — the biggest female rappers in the game, to change the game, come together and touch mics. It’s phenomenal. But somewhere along the way some part of that has to feel real. It has to be real.”

Foxy says that Fab was fine with her decision but explains that she wouldn’t perform with Kim because a reunion wouldn’t be “real” and her beef with Kim is deeper than hip-hop.

“The night before he calls me — ‘I wanna ask you something, I don’t know how you’re gonna feel about this but I’m going to ask you — how would you feel if I brought Lil’ Kim out with us on stage?’ I said, ‘That would be crazy.’ … The last time she and I were even [around], there was a shoot-out, the last comment I ever remember her making about me, she laughed at the fact that I lost my hearing. Those things, when people do things like that, and they have malicious intent, that’s different than people just having a rap battle,” Foxy said.

It’s unfortunate that Kim and Foxy couldn’t squash their beef, which most will agree has gone on for too long, and finally come together for what would likely be one of the biggest moments in hip-hop history. And considering the state of both their careers, both of them could use the boost.
