No. 7 Kanye West explodes backstage.
At the 2007 VMAs, Kanye West was riding high on the success of his album Graduation, and was getting lots of attention for his highly-publicized sales battle with fellow hip-hop star 50 Cent. But pop starlet Britney Spears was to give her “comeback” performance at that year’s show–so MTV decided to let her open the ceremony. West went ballistic backstage, ranting about racism and vowing to never return to the VMAs. But he did.
