No. 10 Dan Aykroyd and Bette Midler (1984)
Seems slightly strange now, but the very first VMAs were hosted by these two seemingly odd choices. To be fair, Aykroyd was still fresh off of a string of hit movies (The Blues Brothers, Trading Places, Ghostbusters) so it makes some sense. But nobody remembers anything that they did or said. But hey–it was the very first show. And Madonna’s “Like A Virgin” performance overshadowed everything that year.
