Fat Joe, 42, officially reported to federal prison in Miami to serve a four month sentence for tax evasion on Monday.
The Bronx, N.Y., native, whose real name is Joseph Cartagena, pleaded guilty in December 2012 to failing to pay taxes on more than $1 million of income in 2007 and in 2008.
Cartagena was sentenced at a June 24 court hearing in Newark, N. J., during which the rapper apologized publicly to friends, family and supporters.
Cartagena is a Miami Beach resident but was charged in New Jersey because some of the companies he earns money from are incorporated in the state.
He sent one last tweet to his family and fans before going in:
