She was never a superstar in the vein of similar artists like Brandy, but the 17-year old R&B singer had garnered a huge hit with 1991s “I Love Your Smile,” and the success of her debut album Inner Child put her at the forefront of a new wave of R&B stars in the early-to-mid 90s. Unfortunately, her sophomore album failed miserably despite a much sexier, more adult image makeover in 1994.
