Christopher Lamont Richardson, Jr. was arrested Friday, August 30 and charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of firearm on school property, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, and discharging a firearm within city limits.  The 18-year-old has been charged with shooting and wounding one of his classmates at Carver High School in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Richardson shot and wounded an unnamed 15-year-old student who was taken  to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

School resource officer Tim Wilson was present and actively assisting students returning to their classes when he heard gunshots and immediately withdrew his service weapon as he walked in the direction of the fired shots. Richardson wasn’t going down without a fight as he challenged the officer before he was taken into custody.

Carver was on lock down for almost three hours following the shooting as police conducted their investigation, leaving parents and students anxious to see one another.

Following Richardson’s arrest, his bond was set at $50,000 and it’s unknown whether he has an attorney. His court date has been set for September 26.
