Last month, the porn industry shut down after adult film star Cameron Bey announced that she had contracted HIV; since then, another big name Rod Daily has come forward, announcing that he as well had contracted the disease.
While we would like to think that the porn industry is “clean” and that the stars as well as film companies take every precaution to make sure their performers’ health comes first, the above occurrences are just two of many.
In November of 2012, a report completed by several health experts in California was released stating that 47 out of 168 porn stars had contracted gonorrhea or chlamydia in addition to eight porn stars who tested positive for HIV since 2004. This is most likely due to the fact that a majority of adult film studios do NOT require the use of condoms as they believe it takes away from the viewer’s experience. A small price to pay? We think not!
