The Miley Cyrus “twerking” effect continues to invade suburban communities across the nation. According to a report by 23ABC in Bakersfield, Calif., a seventh grade girl was forced publicly to apologize for twerking at a recent school dance.

Frances Hena, the child’s mother, discovered that her 11-year-old daughter performed the dance and wanted to punish her severely. Hena took her child to a busy street corner in Bakersfield and forced her to hold a sign that read, “I was disrespecting my parents by twerking at my school dance.” She held the sign on the corner for two hours.

The young girl was embarrassed by her punishment, but her mother believed it was the best way to send a message to her child. She believes her daughter learned the dance while watching videos of women twerking on YouTube.

Hena was also upset that the school didn’t have a “no twerking” policy and says she will fight to have one implemented.
