After nearly a decade of being live-in roommates with two kids (granted, it is a posh mansion), LeBron James finally married his longtime girlfriend, Savannah Brinson.
With guests dining on a five-course dinner, prefaced by plenty of appetizers and all done under incredibly tight security, the famed couple exchanged nuptials at an uber-upscale resort in San Diego, Calif.
Guests had their phones taken away for the ceremony and reception in an effort to ensure that no photos or details leaked out.
Many close friends were posted up strong, including Beyonce and Jay Z, who performed “Crazy in Love,” as well as members of the Heat including best friend Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, managing general partner Micky Arison and coach Erik Spoelstra. Wade and girlfriend, Gabrielle Union, posted images of themselves dressed for the occasion on social media; as did Bosh and his wife, Adrienne. Some of James’ longtime friends were also in attendance, including his manager, Maverick Carter.
“What a wonderful evening!!” Adrienne Bosh wrote on Twitter. “Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. James…Thanks for sharing Ur night & love with us”
The ceremony was the climax of a three-day wedding weekend for the couple. They were engaged just after midnight on Jan. 1, 2012, when James dropped to one knee and surprised his longtime girlfriend by finally popping the question as many of their close friends gathered around.
The wedding did not take place in the summer of 2012 because of LBJ’s extremely demanding schedule that saw him win an NBA MVP, his first league championship and title MVP, and earn unofficial MVP honors as the USA basketball squad took the gold medal in the London Olympics. Soon thereafter, James and his teammates began preparations for successful defense of their title, winning back-to-back championships in seven games over the San Antonio Spurs.
