Sandra Bullock was offered the part of Maggie Fitzgerald in Million Dollar Baby but couldn’t work with the directors she wanted to, so Hilary Swank took the lead. Swank would earn her second Academy Award on this film. Bullock would eventually get hers, though, as she arrived at Oscar gold in The Blindside.
