“Guess what day it is? Guess what day it is? Hump Dddayyy!”
This slogan has taken over social media sites, work offices and obviously schools, as well. However, teachers in one state are accusing the Geico commercial of causing big disruptions in Connecticut classrooms.
According to a Connecticut news stations, educators in Vernon, Conn. are sick of students repeating the commercial’s tag line “in a weird voice.” Students and teachers at Vernon Center Middle School report instances of the popular ad’s “Hump Day” punchline being used several times a week and is especially popular amongst the sixth-grade boys and school officials feel it is disrupting the classroom. Even the parents are annoyed that the children have used the slogan excessively over the past few weeks every day of the week.
The school has taken action and banned the phrase altogether with a punishment of in-school suspension.
