A Buffalo, N.Y. woman employed her children and even a granddaughter in a major crack cocaine enterprise that ran an entire blighted neighborhood before being popped and convicted by authorities.
Theresa Anderson, 58, faces sentencing after pleading guilty to drug conspiracy in June. Under the plea arrangement, she faces between 14 and 17 1/2 years in prison when she appears in federal court.
As part of the agreement, Anderson will have to forfeit $52,000 and all 10 houses she owns.
Investigators told a tale during the trial of an enterprising Anderson whose expansive drug operation over a dozen years in her neighborhood including buying up homes surrounding her house and employing relatives and close acquaintances, and paying lookouts to watch for police.
The interesting thing about Anderson being put out of business is that some neighbors complain that they feel less safe with Anderson locked up and her lookouts gone and her houses abandoned.
Authorities countered that Anderson’s disarming persona is part of what made her such an effective criminal.
